New Monthly Workshop!
Knitting 101- The Knit Stitch
With Annie from the
Knittedhome!

Whether you need a refresher or you’ve never picked up knitting needles before, Annie's got you covered! In this class we’ll be focusing on how to tie a slip knot, how to cast on (the foundation row), and the knit stitch. We will also touch on casting off or finishing a project.

Choose your project (washcloth or straight scarf)! There will be a variety of yarns and tools on hand for you to choose from. We’ll start by choosing your desired project and yarn color, and then picking the right tools. All these supplies are included with your tuition fee to reduce beginner frustration from the wrong tools. Appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Completion of this workshop comes with free passes to any two Tuesday night BYO Crafty Hang where you can get further support and encouragement with your knitting skills.

*Every student picks up the skill at a different rate. Some students can get a good sense of what to do in a two-hour session, and some need additional instructor time. Every student needs to put in practice time between sessions to gain muscle memory and work on their yarn-tension. Both knitting and crochet requires GRIT. Success comes from regular practice and a desire to learn.

Crochet 101-Three Class Series

Registering for this class will sign you up for THREE 90-minute sessions for the FIRST THREE WEDNESDAYS OF THE MONTH:

For Example:

  • Wednesday, January 3, 6:00-7:30

  • Wednesday, January 10, 6:00-7:30

  • Wednesday, January 17, 6:00-7:30

Learn the basics of how to crochet with a THREE SESSION workshop with Vod. Attendees will start the session learning the chain stitch and how to comfortably hold the yarn in your non-dominant hand. Once you have a basic understanding of chain stitch, you will be taught how to do the single crochet stitch and how to crochet a basic rectangular swatch, a skill which can easily translate into the project of your desire! Depending on how quickly you catch on to the skill (and quite frankly, how much you practice between sessions), your instructor will be available to support you in the crochet projects you wish to pursue, such as a scarf, hat, blanket, a yarn-bomb, or even a granny square project!

All materials provided. You will go home with a crochet hook and a supply of yarn to continue your practice.

No previous creative skills needed.

Appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Embroidery 101

Have you ever wanted to learn to embroider? In this class, we will start at the beginning and make a stitch sampler. The “rules of embroidery” will be taught, and then you will be immediately encouraged to break them.

You will be guided through seven of the foundational stitches, including the running stitch, backstitch, satin stitch, blanket stitch, French knot, as well as the decorative stitch, couching.

No previous experience is necessary. All materials will be provided.

Visible Mending Workshop

Join Vod for an exciting workshop on Visible Mending—Visible Mending is an artistic approach to repairing clothes where the fixes or alterations are intentionally made noticeable, often using creative techniques like Sashiko-styled embroidery, patchwork, or decorative stitching. Instead of hiding flaws, visible mending turns them into design features, celebrating the history and uniqueness of the garment while extending its lifespan.

Bring an item to mend or reimagine—a torn pair of jeans or a stained shirt. If you don't have an item, Vod has plenty of options to practice on.

All supplies provided for a creative session.
