Sewing Machine Workshop-Quiltsmart Midi Bag

Join us for a fun and skill-building 4-hour workshop where you’ll begin creating your own Midi Bag using the Quiltsmart system. This technique uses printed interfacing to guide your piecing, helping you achieve precise, polished results with a straightforward stitch-and-flip process.

This class is great for confident beginners and experienced sewists alike. Whether you're new to Quiltsmart or already familiar, you’ll gain skills you can use again and again.

What’s Included:
Your registration includes the Quiltsmart Midi Bag pattern, interfacing kit, and all supplies needed to make one bag (including 108 pre-cut 2.5” squares, ¾ yard fabric for lining & handle, and ¾ yard fusible fleece).

Important Prep (Required Before Class):
To make the most of our time together, some prep work is required. Students will need to pick up their kit in advance and iron their 2.5" fabric squares onto the interfacing before class.

Need help with prep? We’ve got you. You’re welcome to stop in during open hours for assistance, or join us for a BYO Crafty Hang on Tuesdays from 12–2 or 7–9.

What to Expect:
This workshop focuses on learning the Quiltsmart process and progressing through bag construction at a comfortable pace. While many students make significant progress, most will finish their bag during class.

Instruction will be led by Chris Foreman and Rachael Robinson, who will guide you step-by-step, offer tips, and support you throughout the process.

Skills Needed:
This workshop is designed for a confident beginner. Students should be able to independently thread both the upper thread and bobbin, and comfortably sew a consistent 1/4" seam.

Students should bring:

• Sewing machine, cord, pedal, manual if you have it.

• Quarter-inch foot (if you have one)

• Coordinating thread (available in shop)

• Extra bobbin

• Seam ripper

• Thread Snips

• Fabric scissors

If you have a machine but don’t yet feel confident operating it, consider booking a private sewing session with Vod before the workshop so you can get the most out of your class experience.
