Quilted Christmas Stocking

Bring your scraps, your curiosity, and your holiday spirit! In this workshop, we’ll create a one-of-a-kind quilted Christmas stocking using an improv quilting approach — a playful, intuitive method that lets you “paint” with fabric rather than follow strict patterns or measurements.

If you’ve ever felt boxed in by traditional quilting rules (perfect corners, precise measurements, matching seams), this class offers a refreshing change. You’ll learn how to build a pieced top from fabric scraps in a spontaneous, freeing way — no two stockings will ever be alike.

All supplies are provided, but if you have special fabrics you’d like to include — perhaps something meaningful or festive — feel free to bring them along.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Basic comfort with your sewing machine is required, including threading your top and bobbin threads. While some students may finish within the session, many find themselves joyfully absorbed in the creative process — and that’s part of the fun! If you need more time, you’re warmly invited to return during a Tuesday Crafty Hangout to finish your stocking with assistance.
