Modern Japanese Rice Pouch

Spend the afternoon with friends designing your own Japanese Rice Pouch. The price of the workshop includes all of the fabric that you will need to make a unique lined, drawstring bag. It also includes the pattern by @kzstevens so you can make many more on your own.

Skill level: confident beginner (you have a sewing machine and know how to thread it and make a straight seam.)

Skills learned: making a fully lined bag, designing your own patchwork exterior, Japanese Sashiko embroidery stitch.

Students should bring:

  • Sewing Machine, cord, foot pedal, manual if you have one

  • Thread

  • Basic presser foot

  • Extra sewing machine needles (just in case)

  • Extra bobbin (just in case)

  • Seam ripper (just in case)

  • Snips

  • Fabric scissors

Students welcome to use studio supplies such as: cutting notions, board, ruler, rotary cutter, and iron.

If you have a machine but don’t yet feel confident operating it, consider booking a private sewing session with Vod before the workshop so you can get the most out of your class experience.
