Meditation & Mindful Crafting
Collaboration with Jenn McCullough from Integrative Yoga

Saturday, November 8, 2025
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join us for a unique, collaborative workshop that combines gentle meditation with mindful handwork. Jenn will guide you through a meditation technique designed to promote calm, clarity, and peace—something you can begin using right away, both “on the cushion” and in daily life.

Then, Vod will lead you in learning the ancient art of blackwork embroidery, a soothing, pattern-based technique stitched on an even-weave Aida cloth. The repeating designs make it easy to find your rhythm and enter a meditative flow as you stitch.

Through this integrated experience, you’ll:

  • Learn a practical meditation practice to support mindfulness and presence.

  • Apply those principles to a relaxing, creative project.

  • Experience the centering and healing connection between breath, body, and hand.

No prior experience with meditation or embroidery is needed—all materials and instruction are provided. Come as you are, slow down, and leave with a peaceful mind and a beautiful piece of your own creation.

Limited-Series Workshops

Quilted Christmas Stocking, Machine Sewing Workshop
New Workshop!

Saturday, November 15, 2025
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • Quilted Christmas Stocking, Machine Sewing Workshop
    Saturday, November 15, 2025
    10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

    Intermediate sewing skills required

Bring your scraps, your curiosity, and your holiday spirit! In this workshop, we’ll create a one-of-a-kind Quilted Christmas Stocking using an improv quilting approach — a playful, intuitive method that lets you “paint” with fabric rather than follow strict patterns or measurements.

If you’ve ever felt boxed in by traditional quilting rules (perfect corners, precise measurements, matching seams), this Quilted Christmas Stocking class offers a refreshing change. You’ll learn how to build a pieced top from fabric scraps in a spontaneous, freeing way — no two stockings will ever be alike.

All supplies are provided, but if you have special fabrics you’d like to include — perhaps something meaningful or festive — feel free to bring them along.

You'll need basic comfort with your sewing machine, including threading your top and bobbin threads. While some students may finish within the session, many find themselves joyfully absorbed in the creative process — and that’s part of the fun! If you need more time, you’re warmly invited to return during a Tuesday BYO Crafty Hangout to finish your stocking with assistance.

Note: If you don’t feel confident with your machine, consider booking a 90-minute private session with Vod to boost your confidence.

    Cancellation Policy

We try to be flexible, but here's how it works:

    • Cancel seven or more days before class = 50% refund

    • Cancel within seven days = no refund (even for colds, kids, or chaos)

    • Can’t make it? Gift your spot to a friend—just let us know who’s coming.

    • We don’t transfer tuition between classes, so please double-check your calendar before booking.

    Low Enrollment Policy

If fewer than three students are registered 48 hours before a class, we’ll reach out and move your registration to the next available session. Thanks for rolling with us—we promise it’ll still be a great time.

Crochet 101
Three Class Series-Offered Monthly

  • This booking software doesn't support a multiple-session workshop, so......

Registering for this class will sign you up for THREE 90-minute sessions for the THREE NIGHTS, so take note of the dates and make sure you are free!

    For Example:

    • MONDAY, Nov 3 , 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

    • MONDAY, Nov. 10, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

    • MONDAY, Nov 17, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

(Sessions will return to Wednesdays starting in December.)

Learn the basics of how to crochet with a THREE-SESSION workshop with Vod. Attendees will begin the session by learning the chain stitch and how to hold the yarn comfortably in their non-dominant hand. Once you have a basic understanding of chain stitch, you will be taught how to do the single crochet stitch and how to crochet a basic rectangular swatch, a skill that can easily translate into the project of your desire!

Depending on how quickly you catch on to the skill (and quite frankly, how much you practice between sessions), your instructor will be available to support you in the crochet projects you wish to pursue, such as a scarf, hat, blanket, a yarn-bomb, or even a granny square project!

    • I have provided all the materials. You will go home with a crochet hook and a supply of yarn to continue your practice.

    • You don't need any previous creative skills.

    • Appropriate for ages 12 and up.

*Every student picks up the skill at a different rate. Some students can get a good sense of what to do in one session, but most need additional instructor time. Every student needs to put in practice time between sessions to gain muscle memory and work on their yarn tension. Both knitting and crochet require GRIT. Success comes from regular practice and a desire to learn.

Embroidery 101 Workshop
Offered Monthly

  • This class fills quickly! Get your spot today!

Have you ever wanted to learn to embroider? In this class, we will start at the beginning and make a stitch sampler. The “rules of embroidery” will be taught, and then you will be immediately encouraged to break them.

You will be guided through seven of the foundational stitches, including the running stitch, backstitch, satin stitch, blanket stitch, French knot, as well as the decorative stitch, couching.

No previous experience is necessary. All materials will be provided.

Visible Mending Workshop
Offered Monthly

  • Join Vod for an exciting workshop on Visible Mending—Visible Mending is an artistic approach to repairing clothes where the fixes or alterations are intentionally made noticeable, often using creative techniques like Sashiko-styled embroidery, patchwork, or decorative stitching. Instead of hiding flaws, visible mending turns them into design features, celebrating the history and uniqueness of the garment while extending its lifespan.

Bring an item to mend or reimagine—a torn pair of jeans or a stained shirt. If you don't have an item, Vod has plenty of options to practice on.
